Fish Gouramy (Osphronemus goramy)

 Gouramy

Fish Gouramy (Osphronemus goramy)

is a type of freshwater fish that is popular and preferred as a consumption

fish in Southeast Asia and South Asia. In addition, in other countries gouramy

is also often kept in aquariums. Apart from being known as gourami, this fish

also has several local names such as carp (Sd.); grameh (Jw.); kaloi (My.);

Kali Fish (Plg.), and others.

Benefits of

gouramy, especially popular as a consumption fish. The flesh is dense, the thorns are large, they are delicious and tasty. Gurami is almost always available in restaurants, to be used as a variety of dishes, especially grilled gourami and sweet and sour gourami. This fish is priced quite expensive. Gouramy is also preferred as an ornamental aquarium fish. Distribution and Living Area of Gouramy fish was Gouramy originally spread over the islands

Greater Sunda (Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan), but has now been kept as a consumption fish in various countries in Indonesia Asia (especially Southeast Asia and South Asia) as well as in Australia. In nature, gouramy lives on rivers,

swamps and ponds, including in brackish water; but most like shallow pools with lots of plants. Every now and then these fish come to the surface to breathe directly from the air. The mother gouramy, for some time, looks after and cares for her young. The eggs are attached to aquatic plants or placed in nests made of plants. Gourami are mainly eaters plants, but willing to prey too insects, fish other, as well as rotting things in ponds.

Cultivation

Cultivation of carp can be done in

various places. However, for optimal results we must know the location

requirements for carp cultivation. Requirements for cultivation locations

include water temperatures ranging from 24-30 ° C; the quality of the water

must be clean, not too cloudy and not contaminated with toxic materials or

factory waste; the value of the degree of acidity (pH) of the waters ranges

from 7-8; dissolved oxygen content of at least 2 mg / l; and altitude between

50-400 m above sea level.

 Feed

Gouramy is a type of omnivorous animal that tends to be herbivorous. In the larval phase, gouramy natural foods are silk worms, rotifers, and infusaria. After a few days of age, gouramy seeds prefer insect larvae, crustaceans and zooplankton. After a few months, carp feed can be replaced in the form of soft water plants, leaves such as taro leaves, papaya leaves, cassava leaves, lamtoro leaves, etc. If the need for carp feed is insufficient, carp can eat organic matter on the bottom of the water.

If you want to provide additional feed, you can add bran, tofu dregs and soybean meal. For alternative gouramy feed, termites can be added for young and parent carp.

Broadly speaking, gouramy cultivation is divided into 3 main parts, this is due to the slow growth of gouramy. The three parts are:

1.   Nurseries: Cultivators prepare the main Gurami (male and female) to be spawned (lay eggs),

2.   Nursery: Cultivators hatch eggs into larvae to gourami with a certain size, usually 125 gram/head, or 8 tail/kg

3.   Enlargement: Cultivators raise gouramy from a size of 125 grams/head becomes 400 gram to 1 kg/head, generally referred to as the consumption measure.

Gouramy cultivators can choose these three parts or choose only one part, usually related to land area and cultivation ability.
