Interaction of Living Things in the Ecosystem

 

An ecosystem is a system formed by a reciprocal relationship between living things and their environment. In the ecosystem there are two important components, namely the abiotic component and the biotic component.

In the ecosystem there is an interaction between ecosystem components. These interactions can occur between biotic components and abiotic components or between biotic components. The interaction between living things can affect population dynamics. Population dynamics are the ups and downs of a population caused by certain factors.

The following are some of the interactions between living things in the ecosystem

a. Food chain

The food chain is the eating and eating events between living things in a certain order. The food chain can be grouped into 2 groups based on the ecosystem of living things. The grouping is the land ecosystem food chain and marine ecosystem food chain

In the food chain there are living things that act as consumers and producers.

Consumers are living things that cannot make their own food. For example, humans and animals. Producers are living things that can make their own food. For example plants.

In the components of the food chain. Consumers are divided into 3 parts.

1. Primary consumers

Are consumers who get energy sources directly from producers.

2. Secondary consumers

It is the second consumer who gets energy sources from the first consumer

3. Tertiary consumers

It is the consumer who gets the energy source by eating the second consumer.

The food chain can be grouped into 2 groups based on the ecosystem of living things. The grouping is the land ecosystem food chain and marine ecosystem food chain.

b. Food Webs

Food webs are a collection of several interconnected food chains. Organisms that are involved in a food web also have more food choices than organisms in the food chain. Food webs can be grouped into 2 groups based on the ecosystem of living things. The grouping is land ecosystem food webs and marine ecosystem food webs.

c. The food pyramid

The food pyramid is a diagram that depicts other trophic levels based on the amount, biomass and ability to store energy in each trophic.

As the name implies, the structure is in the form of a pyramid and the composition is getting smaller and smaller. The composition at the base of the pyramid is the producer, while those at the top are the top consumers.

The food pyramid can be grouped into 2 groups based on the ecosystem of living things. The grouping is the food pyramid of water ecosystem and land ecosystem pyramid.

An example of a detailed terrestrial ecosystem pyramid

• In Tropic I, there are producers that are inhabited by plants and the like

• In Tropik II, there are consumers I. for example, there are insects and mice that eat directly from the producers.

• In Tropic III, there are consumers II. For example frogs, chickens and the like that consume consumers II

• In Tropic IV, there are consumers III or peak consumers. For example, eagles, other snakes and consumer predators II

Conclusion

The food chain is the eating and eating events between living things in a certain order. Meanwhile, food chains that are interconnected with one another are also called food webs.

The food pyramid is a description of the structure of the tropic level of the ecosystem. The food pyramid describes the relationship of organisms in each tropic starting from tropic I (producers) to peak consumers.
