Manfaat Buah Jamblang Bagi Kesehatan

This slow growing tropical tree is native to the Indian Subcontinent.  However, now it has spread to parts of the world.

Some people are still a little confused because they look like blackberries.


The fruit changes color from green when young to black and purple when ripe. This small fruit has high nutrition because it contains lots of protein, fiber, and also contains phenols, tritepenoids, essential oils, essential oils, jambosine, organic acids, oleanolic acids, tannins  , anthocyanins, ellagic acids, and flavonoids.

In addition, it contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, sodium and phosphorus.  It is also very rich in vitamin C with significant amounts of riboflavin, niacin, thiamine and vitamin B6.


Here are some of the health benefits of jamblang or duwet fruit.


1. Natural blood purifier

   The iron content in jamblang fruit ensures that oxygenated blood with a good amount of hemoglobin can reach all parts of the body.  Clean skin is a sign of pure blood.  Applying a paste of jamblang seed powder can reduce acne breakouts.


2. Helps digestion

   Jamblang acts as a coolant and helps cure digestive ailments such as diarrhea, indigestion, dysentery, and dyspepsia.  This plant bark and seed powder regulates the body for healthy bowel movements and eliminates waste at regular intervals. This fruit induces the production of saliva which helps break down food more quickly so digestion is easier.


3. Good for teeth and gums

     Because jamblang fruit has a lot of vitamin C, it is good for healthy teeth and gums.  Vitamin C helps heal wounds such as bleeding gums.  The antibacterial properties of this juice help expel any bacteria that may enter through the mouth, and prevent bad breath problems as well.


4. Good for heart health

     The tritepenoid present in jamblang fruit has the power to stop the accumulation or production of cholesterol in the body.  This is important for people who are already experiencing heart problems. Jamun also contains potassium which is a mineral that is necessary for heart health, preventing cardiovascular disorders, hypertension and stroke.


5. Beneficial for diabetics

Jamblang has a low glycemic index.  This means it doesn't mess with our blood sugar and keeps it high.  Jamblang also has oleanolic acid which has anti-diabetic properties that help reduce diabetes symptoms, such as urination and excessive thirst.  Also slows down the accumulation of sugar and lipids in the blood.
